SPR - SURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE

Reichert (SPR) Instruments

For real-time, label-free analysis of biomolecular interactions

The SR7000DC is a powerful, flexible and affordable SPR instrument for determining biomolecular interactions. It provides real-time, label-free, simultaneous monitoring of sample and reference channels and is useful in proteomics, genomics, and antibody studies. Its modular design is easily configured to do customized research. Fluidic configurations range from manual to fully automated with an optional autosampler. It is able to do kinetic studies of small molecules down to 100 Daltons. Temperatures are programmable, micro or macro flow cells are available for different surface work, and flow rates can be run fast or slow.

Listed below are some examples of biomolecular interactions which have been successfully studied using the Reichert SPR SR7000DC instrument:

  • Peptide/protein - protein
  • DNA/RNA - protein
  • Protein - cell
  • Receptor - cells
  • Protein - virus/phage
  • Carbohydrate - protein
  • Carbohydrate - cell
  • Liposome - protein
  • Artificial materials - biological matter
  • Drugs - protein
  • Drugs - DNA/RNA
Typical areas of use include:
  • Kinetics (on, off, equilibrium), relative affinity, sequence recognition
  • Concentration determination
  • Ligand fishing followed by MALDI characterization
  • Drug discovery - detection of small molecules down to 100 Da
  • Epitope screening and mapping
  • Method/assay development
  • Electrochemistry-SPR
  • Surface chemistry and biomaterial assessment
  • Artificial materials - biological matter
  • Photochemistry

In addition to biomolecular interaction studies, the Reichert SR7000DC can be used to quantify adsorption and desorption processes in non-biological systems or to follow the course of solid phase-based chemical reactions on the chip surface.

Outstanding features of the SR7000DC instrument include:

  • Dual-Channel with real time referencing
  • Full reflectivity curve downloadable
  • Software is visual and user friendly
  • Widest dynamic range: 1.32 - 1.6 (175.000 RU or 17.500 mdeg)
  • Extremely sensitive: rms noise: < 0.18 ?RIU (0.11 RU or 0.01 mdeg)
  • Excellent baseline stability: Maximum drift 0.6 ?RIU/hour (0.38 RU/h or 0.038 mdeg/h)
  • Inert against solvents and concentrated acids / bases
  • Wide working temperature range: 5 - 90 °C
  • Robust: No moving parts and virtually indestructible sapphire prism
  • More than 50 different sensor chip surfaces
  • Minimal assembly time - uses off-the-shelf HPLC fluidics
  • Automation for 24 hours operation using 96- or 384- well plates
  • Retrofit or upgrade components anytime
  • Combined with other analysis techniques - electrochemistry, photochemistry, fluorescence, mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography
  • Minimal maintenance costs
  • Compact: Just 40 x 33 cm footprint
