In the analysis of diesel fuels by ICP-OES matrix-induced spectral interferences are observed for many commonly used emission lines including Mo 202.030 nm, Pb 220.353 nm, P 213.618 nm and Zn 213.856 nm. Through selection of alternate lines, standard addition calibration and interelement correction routines these carbon-based interfernces can be dealt with, but there are significant analytical shortcomings.
