Introducing the Ramsbottom Carbon Residue Apparatus, a thermostatically controlled coking furnace that determines the carbon residue left after evaporation and pyrolysis of a sample oil. This provides an indication of deposit-forming tendencies of fuels and guidelines for processing refinery products. The cast-iron block type furnace reaches the standard test temperature of 550°C rapidly and controls with ±1°C stability, thanks to microprocessor temperature control with a °C/°F switchable digital setpoint and display. An over-temperature control circuit automatically interrupts power to the unit if the block temperature exceeds the programmed cut-off point, ensuring safety for both operator and equipment.

The Ramsbottom Carbon Residue Apparatus conforms to ASTM D524 and related specifications, as well as to IP 14, ISO 4262, FTM 791-5002, and NF T 60-117 standards. The cast iron block type furnace has a capacity of 5 coking bulbs and a maximum temperature of 650°C. The controller sensitivity is ±1°C, and the heater is 0-2400W with a ceramic band heater.

The apparatus comes with additional accessories, including Coking Bulb Borosilicate Glass, a Sample Charging Syringe, a Needle, and a Coking Bulb Filling Device that fills up to five coking bulbs at a time, saving time when handling viscous fluids. The K27200 Control Bulb is made of stainless steel and comes with an IC thermocouple, which may be used with a thermocouple pyrometer to verify compliance of the furnace with ASTM performance requirements. The K29350 Digital Thermometer is also included.
