K71000 Automatic Pensky Martens Closed Cup Flash Point Tester

The K71000 Automatic Pensky Martens Closed Cup Flash Point Tester, with in-built software, touchscreen interface and two flash detector systems is the ideal choice for ASTM D93.

Product Overview

The K71000 Automatic Pensky Martens Closed Cup Flash Point Tester can be used for the flash point testing of a wide range of samples such as distillate fuels and biodiesel, new and used lubricating oils, residual fuel oils and cutback residua, mixtures of petroleum liquids with solids and petroleum liquids that can form a surface film during the test.

It can also be used to test for contamination of products.

The K71000 complies with ASTM Procedures A, B and C.

Features & Benefits

K71000 Automated Pensky Martens

Automatic lift to the correct position

Fire suppression button in case of fire

Large and clear touch screen interface

Key Applications

  • The large touch screen user interface displays all of the operator parameters and results on a single screen, making it easy to view and navigate.
  • No gas is required (though can be used if required) using flash point detection by Thermocouple and Ionization Ring
  • A wide temperature range of flash point operation between ambient and 405°C: The scope of the method covers the analysis of products in the temperature range of 40 to 360°C but this automated apparatus extends the range from dew point + 10°C to 400°C.
  • An integrated dual fan which directly cools both the test cup and surrounding environment allowing faster sample cooling
  • Automatically corrects for barometric pressure
  • Inbuilt fire suppression system (requires inert gas) in the event of a fire
  • Multiple calibration methods
  • 3 position automatic lift system
  • The in-built PC allows over 65,000 data results to be stored on the local hard drive
  • Unlimited number of user programs, including a quick test, that safely tests from ambient, puts the flash point result into the official run, and prompts user to refresh the sample

About the K71000 Automatic Pensky Martens
Closed Cup Flash Point Tester

Key Safety Features:

– Collision / Interference Detection: The analyser can sense user position around moveable parts and stop its motion

 – Fire suppression detection: Equipped with second gas line for connection to CO2 or Nitrogen gas. The gas disbursement ring around the test cup/cover would be saturated with extinguishing gases.

Conforms to the specifications of: ASTM D93 Procedure A, B and C; IP 34; ISO 2719; DIN EN 22719; JIS K2265; NF M 07-019

The K71000 has an inbuilt colour touch screen display with the option of multi-level user login with password protection:

Three user levels can be used to set access priorities.

The Main Home screen clearly displays the temperature and menu options.

Additionally, the K71000 has a quick test option that begins testing at ambient then heats the sample at an accelerated pace while applying the igniter at 3°C increments. The detected flash is an estimate of the expected flash point which is then used in a subsequent run (under prescribed standard test conditions) to safely arrive at the flash point. The Maximum Quick Test Temperature is 370°C.

There is also a custom test screen for users who do not need to adhere to ASTM D93 and wish to customise their flash point testing.

Once the flash point has been detected the results are clearly displayed and saved to the instruments hard drive:

The results may be opened in a report generation program like MS Word or Excel and sent to a local or network printer. Once the results have been reviewed and accepted by the operator the results may be sent directly to a network folder for processing and direct entry into LIMS.

Once analysis is complete the instrument actuates the rapid cool-down system. The cool-down system can reduce the temperature of the sample from 300 to 30°C in about 8 minutes in a laboratory with ambient conditions at 20°C. The user can also manually switch to standard air cooling.

The Database screen allows easy access to previous results:

If required, the result can be printed:

To summarise, the K71000 Automatic Pensky Martens is a sophisticated yet easy to use, rugged and reliable choice for flash point testing.
