Blend monitoring using integrated NIR in partnership with PHARMATECH

WEDNESDAY 31st of March at 11:00 GMT

Using online near infrared PAT sensors isn’t new in the Quality By Design approach but the capabilities are constantly improving and evolving.

Scimed and Pharmatech have partnered, with support from Viavi, to offer combined systems using the Viavi MicroNIR PAT-W near infrared sensor integrated with Pharmatech’s range of blender systems including their OPC interface. In this webinar, we will demonstrate the NIR and blender technology integration and showcase the recent chemometric features, such as Golden Batch, within the new V3.2 MicroNIR Pro software. We will give an introduction to the main features on the tumble blenders, NIR product overview including options for ATEX.

Who should attend?

This webinar is ideal for anyone with an interest in tumble blending including agitated blending, PAT, existing users and those keen to know what added value NIR brings to their research, production & quality assurance.

What will be presented?

Darren Machen (SciMed Ltd) is the Product Manager of the Viavi range of MicroNIR spectrometers. He has a Masters Degree in Analytical Chemistry and has been with SciMed since 2015. He was worked within the laboratory sector including environmental, metallurgical and materials in both contract testing and research. He is a Chartered Chemist who has work for a number of high end analytical suppliers to the UK food, oil/gas, environmental and material science sectors.

Emiliano Genorini (Viavi) is MicroNIR account manager for EMEA and LATAM . He has a degree in chemistry with specialization in analytical chemistry on environmental pollutant. He has worked for a number of top brand instrumentation companies and has more than 20 years in NIR spectroscopy, acquiring extensive experience in pharma and food markets. Since 2003 has been working as contract professor of chemometry in University of Milano and Pavia.

Mr Shaun O’Riordan (Pharmatech – Terriva Ltd) came from 10 years in the Military Intelligence community before bringing a meticulous attention to detail to Pharmatech (Terriva Ltd) as Quality Assurance and Documentation Manager in 2016.  He is now Operations Manager and is responsible for oversight of all aspects of Pharmatech’s processes, particularly machine controls and integration with customer processes and IT.

During his tenure he has designed and managed the development of a variety of blender control systems specifically for integration with customer domains and PAT/NIR Equipment – carrying them from concept to commissioned machines.  Typically using a combination of Modbus and Open Platform Communications (OPC) for metadata capture, electronic records and various functional control across the entire Pharmatech range of blenders – from 100ml laboratory scale, to 100L scale up, all the way to 7000L production sale – proving that Quality by Design (QbD) can be implemented at all stages of the research and manufacturing process requiring tumble and agitated blending.

Experience has proven that every project is different with regards to the requirements for integration, and he is yet to find a set of requirements that Pharmatech’s flexibility cannot satisfy!”
