Metal-based nanoparticles are among the most studied materials due to their innumerable applications. Moreover, the compound functionalization with organic ligands results essential for some uses, e.g. in drug delivery technology. Even if several techniques are common available to establish size, structure and morphology of the particles, the identification of the quantity and the way in which the ligands are attached on their surface is not trivial. The coupling of thermal investigation with the evolved gas analysis is a powerful tool not only in establishing the thermal stability, but also for the study of the interaction between the metallic core and the organic shell.
