SciMed Visits Analytica 2026. Showcasing New Technologies from Sykam, Schmidt + Haensch and Fluxana

27 March 2026

SciMed recently attended Analytica 2026 in Munich, one of the world’s leading exhibitions for laboratory technology, analysis, and biotechnology.

During the visit, SciMed Director Paul Vanden Branden met with key suppliers and explored the latest innovations in analytical instrumentation, with a particular focus on ion chromatography, refractometry, and sample preparation technologies.

This year’s event highlighted a strong trend towards automation, real-time analysis, and improved laboratory efficiency, with several new product developments now available to UK and Ireland customers through SciMed.

Ion Chromatography. Real-Time Process Monitoring with Sykam

One of the standout developments came from Sykam, showcasing their latest ion chromatography solutions, including the A-Series system and new process ion chromatography capabilities.

These systems enable real-time, inline monitoring of anions and cations, allowing users to measure critical parameters such as nitrates, chlorides, phosphates, and fluorides directly within their process.

This technology is particularly relevant for:

  • Water treatment and environmental monitoring
  • Bottled water and beverage production
  • Industrial process control

The ability to integrate directly with process systems and provide instant feedback represents a significant step forward in ensuring quality, compliance, and efficiency.

SciMed also visited Schmidt + Haensch to see the newly launched ATR-V refractometer, designed as a compact, entry-level solution for fast and reliable measurement.

The ATR-V focuses on simplicity and speed, offering:

  • Plug and play operation
  • Results in just 1–2 seconds
  • Intuitive user interface
  • Easy cleaning and maintenance

With strong applications in food and beverage testing, this system is ideal for laboratories looking to streamline routine analysis without compromising accuracy.

High-Throughput Fusion with Fluxana VITRIOX Electric 6+

Another key highlight was the introduction of the VITRIOX Electric 6+ from Fluxana.

This compact benchtop fusion system enables:

  • Six-position simultaneous fusion
  • Parallel processing using three furnaces
  • Automated workflows for improved repeatability
  • Flexible configuration options for different sample types

Designed for XRF sample preparation, the system delivers significantly increased throughput while maintaining consistency and ease of use.
