About the Vanta GX

Advanced Precious Metal Verification

The Vanta GX is a precision benchtop XRF analyser designed for fast, dependable verification of precious metals in jewellery, bullion and high-value components. It provides accurate alloy composition and karat information in seconds, allowing users to understand material value without cutting, scratching or chemically damaging the item. Built on Evident’s proven Vanta electronics platform, the system combines strong detector performance with a compact, enclosed design suited to both retail counters and laboratory environments.

Reliable ED-XRF Measurement Technology

Using energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF), the analyser directs a controlled X-ray beam at the sample, causing each element to emit its own characteristic fluorescent signal. The Vanta GX interprets these signals using optimised precious-metal calibrations, giving clear and repeatable results. This allows users to quickly distinguish pure metals from alloys, layered constructions or items containing unexpected base-metal content

Reducing Risk in Jewellery and Pawnbroking

For jewellers and pawnbrokers, the Vanta GX provides a modern, objective alternative to acid testing, scratch tests or density checks. These traditional methods are slower, messy and often subjective. The Vanta GX delivers consistent, numerical results that improve pricing accuracy, shorten transaction times and build customer trust in fast-paced retail environments. Its ability to detect plating and filled structures adds an essential layer of financial protection.

Detector Options for Different Workflows

Two detector configurations allow businesses to match performance to budget and application needs. The high-resolution SDD version is ideal for complex alloy analysis, premium pieces and detailed laboratory work. The PIN detector configuration offers a cost-effective solution for routine verification, trading and scrap assessment. Both versions benefit from the same intuitive touchscreen interface, ensuring consistent operation regardless of staff experience.

Designed for Counters, Labs and Back-Office Use

The Vanta GX has a compact footprint and a sealed, interlocked chamber that ensures safe operation throughout the day. The chamber accommodates a broad range of item types, from small rings and chains to coins, watch components and small bullion bars. Pre-configured workflows help operators select appropriate test settings quickly, keeping the process straightforward and efficient.

Traceable Reporting and Documentation

Results can be stored or exported with timestamps, operator details and optional images captured using the internal camera (where fitted). This supports valuation records, insurance requirements and multi-branch audit trails. Consistent documentation is particularly valuable for retailers, refiners and bullion traders who require traceability and unified procedures across locations.

Local Support Across the UK and Ireland

SciMed provides installation, user training and ongoing technical support to ensure long-term instrument performance. For organisations already using handheld or coating-thickness XRF systems, the Vanta GX integrates naturally into existing workflows, offering a familiar interface and consistent analytical approach.

Product FAQ's

Vanta GX uses energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence. It directs X-rays at the item and measures the fluorescent X-rays emitted by each element to determine composition and karatage without cutting or scratching the piece.

The analyser is optimised for small, high value items that fit inside the testing chamber. Typical examples include rings, bracelets, chains, pendants, earrings, watch cases and bracelets, coins and small bullion bars, as well as mixed scrap and sweeps prepared in cups.

Most routine precious metal checks can be completed in a few seconds, which is fast enough for counter use in busy shops. Longer tests can be selected when you need lower detection limits or additional confidence for unusual alloys or borderline results.

Yes. XRF analysis with Vanta GX is completely nondestructive for normal jewellery and bullion testing. You do not need to file, cut or scratch the item, which is particularly important for finished pieces, watches and high value coins.

Vanta GX includes calibrations and features that help distinguish solid precious metal items from plated or filled pieces. In practice this allows you to catch a significant proportion of gold plated or base metal fakes that would otherwise pass basic visual inspection.

While fire assay remains the absolute reference for some applications, Vanta GX provides excellent precision and repeatability for routine trading, QA and valuation tasks. It removes much of the subjectivity associated with scratch testing and density checks while offering a far faster turnaround than external laboratory analysis.

SciMed can coordinate supply, installation and training, and arrange ongoing service and calibration support in partnership with Evident. This gives UK and Irish customers a local point of contact for technical questions, refresher training and instrument care over the long term.

For benchtop XRF units like Vanta GX, operation is straightforward and requires no complex licensing. SciMed will advise on best practice, safety checks and training during installation.
