Inside SciMed’s Visit to Parr Instrument Company in Moline

9th April 2026

Lee Nestor and Aniket Divecha have made a trip across the pond to see our colleagues at Parr Instruments, in Moline.

Moline is a mid-sized city in the U.S. state of Illinois, located on the banks of the Mississippi River. It is one of the five cities that make up the Quad Cities metropolitan region, which spans the border between Illinois and Iowa.

Moline is best known as the historic headquarters of John Deere, the global manufacturer of agricultural and construction equipment. The company’s presence shaped the city’s growth and still plays a major role in the local economy.

The city is also known for its strong manufacturing and engineering heritage, riverfront development, and attractions such as the John Deere Pavilion, which showcases the company’s machinery and history. Additionally, Parr Instrument Company—well known for laboratory calorimeters and pressure reactors—is based here, contributing to the area’s reputation in scientific instrumentation

Expansion and Renovation at Parr Instrument Company

During our recent visit to Parr Instrument Company in Moline, we saw first-hand the results of their newly completed expansion and renovation project.

The investment includes a new 54,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, bringing key operations such as machining, assembly, inspection, shipping, and receiving together under one roof. The modernised facility also features advanced CNC machining equipment, enabling Parr to manufacture larger pressure vessels—up to 100 L—in-house and improve production efficiency.

To further streamline operations, the building incorporates automated vertical lift storage systems, improving inventory handling and workflow across the site.

With manufacturing moving into the new building, Parr also renovated its original facility, transforming it into expanded office space and increasing administrative capacity significantly.

Overall, the project represents a major step forward for Parr, strengthening their manufacturing capabilities and supporting continued growth in the development of high-quality laboratory instrumentation.

Parr Instrument Company’s recent major expansion and renovation features a new 54,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that houses manufacturing, shipping, receiving, assembly, and inspection operations. The expanded space has enabled the company to invest in advanced equipment, allowing for in-house production of larger standard vessels ranging from 20 to 100 liters while reducing production lead times. Renovations to the original facility, completed in December 2025, transformed the former manufacturing shop into modern administrative offices, meeting rooms, and an innovation lab equipped with Parr systems and accessories.

A key goal of the expansion and renovation was to enhance training capabilities for Parr’s global dealer network. The Parr team was excited to welcome Aniket Divecha and Lee Nestor from SciMed Ltd as the first dealers to visit for training since the renovation was completed. While on site, Aniket and Lee worked side by side with Parr specialists, receiving advanced product education and gaining hands-on experience with reactor and pressure vessel systems in the new facilities
