A two-day course focusing on the key principles of wavelength dispersive XRF and their practical application. Intended for existing and prospective WD-XRF users who wish to advance their understanding of the technique. The courses have been adapted to accommodate users of any kind of WD-XRF Spectrometer.

XRF Sample Preparation Masterclass
In conjunction with Fluxana, a one day course focusing entirely on sample preparation for XRF. Including sample prep theory and lab-based practical demonstrations of liquid, pressed pellet and fused bead preparation.

Energy-Dispersive XRF (EDXRF) Spectrometry
A two-day course focusing on the key principles of energy dispersive XRF and their practical application. Intended for existing and prospective ED-XRF users who wish to advance their understanding of the technique. The courses have been adapted to accommodate users of any kind of ED-XRF Spectrometer, including micro-spot instruments and hand-held XRF.

The Speakers
Our speakers bring over 30 years of combined experience in their chosen fields. John Austin, an XRF Applications Specialist at SCIMED, has over a decade of expertise in various XRF applications, including ED-XRF, WD-XRF, and Micro-XRF, across industries such as aerospace, academia, and waste management.
Konstantin Brendgens from FLUXANA GmbH, founded in 2002, has extensive experience providing comprehensive XRF accessories and sample preparation equipment, delivering complete solutions for optimal XRF analysis.
Together, they offer a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to the XRF courses.
SCiMed
John Austin – XRF Applications Specialist
Covers Energy-Dispersive XRF (ED-XRF), Wavelength-Dispersive XRF (WD-XRF), Micro-XRF for small spot analysis, and XRF sample preparation solutions.
John has over ten years of extensive laboratory experience of many XRF applications, such as within the aerospace industry, academia, waste management, RoSH, metals, ceramics, glasses, cements, fuels, oils, battery research, geology, jewellery, and let’s not forget about the weird and wonderful!
He also develops and validates methods from simple to complex, creates high-performance calibrations specific to the needs of the customer, and provide crucial support to our customers whenever they need it.

Konstantin Brendgens represents FLUXANA GmbH, a leading supplier of XRF sample preparation equipment and consumables. FLUXANA has been serving the XRF community since 2002, delivering all types of accessories, such as cups, foils, chemicals and calibration standards.
They also offer a wide range of sample preparation equipment including fusion equipment, mills and presses.
