SciMed Attends ESR Conference 2026 at the University of Essex
22 April 2026
SciMed was pleased to attend the 59th Annual International Meeting of the ESR Spectroscopy Group, held at the University of Essex in Colchester from 13–16 April 2026.
As one of the UK’s key events for the EPR and ESR community, the conference brought together researchers, academics, and industry professionals to explore the latest developments in magnetic resonance and its growing range of applications.
What happened at ESR Conference 2026?
A Key Event for the ESR Community
This long-standing meeting continues to play an important role in connecting the EPR community across both academic and industrial sectors.
The 2026 programme reflected the increasing breadth of ESR applications, with contributions spanning:
• Chemistry and advanced materials research
• Catalysis and reaction monitoring
• Biological and life science studies
• Environmental and food-related analysis
Across both presentations and poster sessions, there was a clear balance between methodological development and real-world application, highlighting how EPR spectroscopy continues to evolve as a practical tool for solving complex research challenges.

A strong theme throughout the conference was the continued advancement of:
• Instrumentation performance and accessibility
• Data interpretation and spectral analysis techniques
• Experimental workflows for increasingly complex samples
Discussions and case studies demonstrated how EPR is being applied in real research environments, particularly in areas such as materials characterisation, catalysis, and life sciences.
This alignment between technical innovation and applied use reinforces the growing importance of EPR across both research and industry.
Technology, Applications, and Real-World Insight

On Display: Bringing EPR Technology to the Event
Alongside attending the conference, SciMed showcased the CIQTEK EPR200M benchtop EPR spectrometer, giving attendees the opportunity to explore a more accessible approach to EPR analysis.
With its compact footprint and simplified operation, the system is designed to bring high-quality EPR measurements into a wider range of laboratory environments, supporting both research and teaching applications.
Expert Insight
Aniket Divecha, Product Specialist at SciMed, commented:
“The ESR Conference continues to be one of the most valuable events in the UK for anyone working in EPR. What stood out this year was the strong connection between academic research and real-world application. There’s clear momentum in areas like materials characterisation and catalysis, and it was great to see how instrumentation and data analysis are evolving to support that.
Events like this are important for staying connected with the community and understanding where the challenges and opportunities lie moving forward.”
Looking Ahead
The conference provided a valuable snapshot of the direction of travel within the ESR field, with continued progress expected across both instrumentation and application areas.
SciMed remains committed to supporting the UK ESR community by providing access to advanced instrumentation, technical expertise, and ongoing collaboration with leading global partners.
